40th anniversary of CLASS, Lawrence
Aug 26, 2016
CLASS.....Redefining what's possible for people with disabilities.
At CLASS, we support people with disabilities, their families and their caregivers by building pathways to the community to ensure individuals with disabilities live lives fully realized. We promote people’s abilities and create opportunities for them to participate and take advantage of everything life has to offer: daily living skill building and working through challenges independently, volunteering and learning new work skills, thriving through community engagement, and working in meaningful employment. |

Look for the Rotary Club of Andover at Andover Day, Saturday, September 10! Andover Rotary's Andover Cares project will host an addiction resource and information station on Punchard Avenue, off the north end of Main Street. If you, or someone you know, is seeking information about addiction and the opioid crisis in our community, stop by the resource area. For more information about Andover Cares click here. If you have questions about the Andover Cares Fund contact Al Ruthazer. ABOUT ANDOVER DAY Andover Day is a great time for people to learn about local organizations, businesses and civic groups. Some businesses offer special deals for Andover Day, while organizations have tables downtown so that members can chat with people who might be interested in joining their group. Some businesses with little direct Andover ties join Andover Day because they know its a chance to connect with the thousands who generally attend throughout the day. |

Join with the Rotary Club of Andover in the fight against the opioid addiction crisis facing our communities. Find out more at rotaryandover.org/. THE ANDOVER CARES FESTIVAL On Saturday, September 17, 2016, Andover Rotary will host its 2nd annual Andover Cares Music Festival to raise awareness about the impact addiction has on individuals, families, and our communities. The Festival also raises funds to support the Andover Cares Fund, which supports opioid addiction education efforts and services. In 2015, Andover Rotary and Andover Cares raised $60,000. The goal this year is to raise $75,000 to support opiate and addiction education and resources. The Andover Cares Music Festival will feature live local musical talent, talks and discussion forums, and a resource area with experts in the addiction recovery field. Plus there will be lots of entertainment for the kids and plenty of food and beverages to make the festival a day for the entire family. The Rotary Club of Andover’s Andover Cares Festival returns for a second year Saturday, September 17, 2016, 3:00pm to 9:00pm, at the Doherty Fields and Cormier Youth Center, Whittier Court, Andover. Entertainment includes local musical talent Rust Never Sleeps (Neil Young cover band), Carissa Johnson, young musicians from the Real School of Music, and a variety of other acts. HOW YOU CAN HELP You can support the Andover Cares Fund by purchasing an Andover Cares button. Buttons are $20 each and can be purchased online at AndoverCaresFestival.EventBrite.com. Kids under the age of 18 can contribute $10 for a button. By purchasing a button and wearing it throughout the year, supporters will spread the word about Andover Cares. Rotary clubs, businesses, and individuals can be Andover Cares Music Festival sponsors by contacting Andover Rotarian Amy Salant at amysalant@fitnesstogether.com. Join us at Ironstone Farm for a fun community service project to assemble Party Bags to Go! The District is providing some of the supplies but we could use more- small party plates, cups, napkins, cake mixes, frosting etc. the bags, candles and favors are provided for us. Then on Sept 21st back at Ironstone at our evening meeting we will stuff the bags. We then choose what local organization we want to provide them to. I think of Andover Housing Authority and Lazarus House but there are many more. We can take "where doing good is serious fun" to a whole new level! |

Motivation to achieve goals
Jan 18, 2017
Russ Cooke is a motivational speaker that uses his background as a former NFL player and also Boston coach to now CEO to motivation individuals to achieve their goals. “ GOING TO THE EDGE “ Perseverance, dedication and hard work led to the fulfillment of a dream shared by untold millions of men and women. I was a professional athlete…signed to a three-year contract to play linebacker in the National Football League for the team I’d idolized since childhood…the New York Jets. And then it all ended with one explosive hit. A major concussion…sadly my fifth…ended my football career before I ever got to play a down in a real game. Many, if not most, would have quit on the game of life right then and there. But instead, that was when my “professional” career actually began. Beginning with few prospects post-football, I applied the same principles learned on the football field to power a career that took me from pumping gas to one of the most prestigious boardrooms in the world….from washing windshields to creating and promoting a worldwide brand in the form of Boston Coach, a Fidelity Investments Company that redefined the sedan-livery industry as it grew to a self-sustaining, multi-million dollar organization. Yet I will tell you that my story is not unique. I’ll explain how we all find obstacles as we play our individual roles in the game of life. I’ll talk about what it takes to see roadblocks as hurdles…how the same level of perseverance, dedication andhard work, combined with a team-oriented mentality, can propel anyone to that seemingly unattainable “next level” of play…how what seems like a game-ender can be, with the right attitude, simply a game changer…and how, in the end, it’s about achieving success as you define it and then redefine it throughout your life. Football, to some degree, will be a key metaphor. That’s because this was my experience. But my message extends to a much broader audience than athletes. Because whether lessons are learned in sports or music or any other endeavor, we all have the internal ability to apply our experiences and knowledge to creating a path to success. To find out how I can inspire you and your target audience, contact me today! Russell S. Cooke |
