Life of an Artist

Dave Drino's approach to painting comprises a blend of academic training along with the influence of the Cape Ann School and the Boston School of painters of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.

Dave’s passion is painting outdoors, on location in all seasons of the year throughout New England.  He then continues to work and complete his paintings in his north light studio.

He studied studio painting at the New Hampshire Institute of Art.

Dave is a juried member of the Northshore Arts Association in Gloucester, The Rockport Art Association and Museum in Rockport MA and the Copley Society of Art in Boston MA.

He was selected as a featured artist for the 2020 and 2021 Cape Ann National Plein -Air Art Festival.

Dave was selected as the Artist-in-Residence at the Whistler House Museum in Lowell in 2015 and 2016.

Dave’s works are owned by individual collectors as well as a number of institutions such as, City of Lowell(City Hall); Lahey Clinic; Enterprise Bank; Boston Partners Financial Group; Lowell Community Health Center; MKtix Company and Toast Vodka among others.

Among the many venues where Dave has exhibited are: Massachusetts State House, Boston MA; Bristol Art Museum, Bristol Rhode Island; Guild of Boston Artist, Newbury St Boston; Copley Art Society, Boston; Whistler House Museum of Art, Lowell MA; Andover Historical Society, Andover MA; Rockport AA and Museum, Rockport MA; NSAA, Gloucester MA; St Botoloph Club, Boston and the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester NH.
