Well, that silly Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and it looks like 6 more weeks of winter. Why not beat the winter doldrums with some fun, Andover Rotary Club style. Let’s play “Who is that cute Andover Rotarian Baby?”

Send me a photo of yourself as a baby (no more than 2 years old) and we will display them and then we will guess who's who! The member that has the correct guesses will win a surprise gift and of course, bragging rights! What better way to kick off the competition than on Friday, February 13th as we celebrate Valentine’s Day! Please email me  your baby photo!

Please consider joining fellow Rotarians from around District 7930 at the World Peace and Understanding Dinner on Thursday, Feb. 12th, 6 PM at Spinelli’s on Route 1 in Lynnfield. Deadline to sign-up is Feb. 8th.  In addition to recognizing world peace and understanding through service, RI Polio Plus Chair Mike McGovern will talk about navigating the polio vaccine during turbulent times.

Finally, on behalf of President Elect Ken Feyl and Fundraising Chair Don Gottfried we are asking all members to support our Citizens Who Care event on May 14th. Not sure how you can do that, please come to the meeting on Friday and we will make sure that the fundraising committee is introduced!

Have a great rest of your week!

Cheers to Rotary!

Scholarship Applications Now Open

We’re excited to announce that applications for the 2026 Rotary Club of Andover Scholarships are now being accepted! The Club proudly offers these scholarships to graduating high school seniors who live in Andover and plan to pursue higher education. This long-standing program honors the memory of Philip Mercandetti, Barbara Doran, and other community supporters and reflects our commitment to helping local students achieve their educational goals.

Eligible students must live in Andover, not be a direct relative of a Rotarian, and be planning to attend a college or post-secondary program next semester. Scholarships of up to $3,000 will be awarded based on academic performance, community service, financial need, and future goals.

Important: The application deadline is April 2, 2026.

Please help us get the word out — share this news with graduating seniors, parents, schools, and guidance counselors so deserving students in our community don’t miss this opportunity!

Rotary Supports Kiwanis “Bike Rodeo for Kids”

We’re pleased to help promote an upcoming community event hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Greater Lawrence — the Kiwanis Bike Rodeo for Kids! This fun, hands-on event teaches children important bicycle safety skills while building confidence and encouraging healthy outdoor activity. Kids will navigate a safe riding obstacle course and learn key rules of the road and helmet safety from trained volunteers.

The Bike Rodeo is set for April 18, 2026 at Lawrence Veterans Memorial Stadium, in partnership with the Merrimack Valley YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day. More than 1,000 children from Lawrence and surrounding communities are expected to attend.

In addition to safety education, the event aims to provide new and refurbished bikes, helmets, and on-site repairs for children who need them — helping remove barriers so every child can ride safely.

Please share this great opportunity with family, friends, and neighbors — and consider supporting this worthwhile event. Details are available on the Kiwanis website!
