As Rotarians, the single thing that I think we do so well is support each other in times of happiness and times of sadness.

As you know, our member Bill Pennington is mourning the loss of his beloved son Greg. In speaking with Bill, he did not have any immediate needs, and he asked that we keep him and his family in our prayers. We did talk about a fundraiser in the warmer weather to celebrate Greg’s life and legacy. I told him that Rotary will be there every step of the way!

I hope that everyone has had time to dig out from this snowstorm! If anyone needs any help, please let me know!

The Citizens Who Cares selection committee will meet tomorrow to select our honorees. In the interim, start thinking about your role in the event, helping with fundraising, volunteering that night or what ever Ken needs. It takes a village!

Look forward to seeing you on Friday!

Cheers to Rotary!

19th Annual MLK Jr. Day Celebration

Andover Rotary was proud to sponsor and attend the 19th Annual MLK Jr. Day Celebration of Unity at Andover Baptist Church last Monday.

Pastor Myers expressed heartfelt thanks multiple times for our support, and the event was truly inspiring—filled with uplifting music, meaningful readings, prayers for our community and nation, and powerful moments that left the room moved.

Standout highlights included the thoughtful keynote remarks from Dr. Patrick Tutwiler, Massachusetts Secretary of Education and an Andover resident, and the stirring recitation of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech by AHS science teacher Ralph Bledsoe (pictured above). Both earned well-deserved standing ovations among many throughout the morning.

A beautiful reminder that, as Dr. King said:
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

Grateful to be part of such a unifying tradition in our town.
