Well, the Super Bowl outcome was not what we wanted, and the Olympics are almost over...what team can we root for now? No, sorry Michelle Flanagan, not the Yankees but the Red Sox!
It's time to dust off your baseball caps and get in the season for spring ball! In years past, I have always watched Opening Day at a local "watering hole" and this year Opening Day happens to be on a Friday, April 3rd with the game starting at 2:10 PM. I will be at said local "watering hole" that day and hope you will consider joining me for food and fellowship. lf you read this, and want to join me, please let me know.
I want to give a special shout out to the Club members that are working with President Elect Ken and Fundraising Chair Don on Citizens Who Care. The event is coming up soon on Thursday, May 14th. Please reach out to the committee to see how you can help. We need all hands on deck to make this a successful event!
Look forward to seeing you on Friday!

Celebrating Peace, Understanding, and Polio Progress in Lynnfield
The Rotary Club of Andover was proudly represented at the District 7930 World Peace and Understanding Event on Thursday, February 12, 2026, held at Spinelli's Function Facility in Lynnfield.
This inspiring fundraising evening focused on Rotary's signature cause—ending polio forever—with the theme "Navigating the Polio Vaccine During Turbulent Times." The program highlighted our District's Global Scholars and Youth Exchange students, who shared their experiences and perspectives on promoting international understanding.
A highlight was the keynote address by PDG Mike McGovern, Chair of Rotary International's International PolioPlus Committee and incoming Chair of the Polio Oversight Board for the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI). He spoke passionately about sustaining momentum in the fight against polio amid ongoing global challenges.
We were especially thrilled to celebrate two of our own members who were inducted as new members of the PolioPlus Society for their outstanding commitment and contributions to polio eradication: President Ann Ormond and Tamara Lindsay. Their dedication reflects the spirit of service that defines our club.
A big thank you to everyone from Andover Rotary who attended and supported this meaningful event. Moments like these remind us why we gather—to build peace, foster understanding, and make a lasting impact on the world.

Volunteer Spotlight: Hands-On Service at St. Martha’s Food Pantry
A big thank-you to our dedicated Rotary Club of Andover volunteers (including one soon-to-be member!) who gave their time last week to unload a truckload of essential food and supplies at Lazarus House Ministries’ St. Martha’s Food Pantry.
From left to right: Rotarian Amy Salant, Al Ruthazer, Tom Adams (who recently submitted his Rotary application -woo hoo!), Rotarian Rich Rainville and his spouse, and Joe Bonanno.
Together they stocked shelves and helped ensure families facing food insecurity in the Merrimack Valley receive the support they need. These hands-on efforts deliver thousands of pounds of groceries each week to those who need it most—living proof that Service Above Self truly changes lives.
Best of all? No Rotary membership is required to join in! Whether you’re a longtime friend of the club, a neighbor, or simply someone eager to give back, we warmly welcome all volunteers for upcoming opportunities.
Interested? Reach out to our Club Service Chair, Al Ruthazer for the next opportunity to serve together.
