Creating Community Through Sharing Stories

Alex is a 2023 graduate of Andover High School. He will be matriculating at Tufts University this fall. He plans to major in cultural anthropology and applied math. Alex is currently an intern for the Andover Center for History and Culture. Together, they collaborated to develop a process for the collection of oral histories. He wrote a manual outlining the procedure for future oral history projects. In the last 18 months, he has been collecting the stories of 50 Andover residents and community members. These stories have supported the creation and curation of community connections between the diverse Andover residents and beyond.

As a lifelong resident of Andover, Alex has been involved in many activities including: the Andover Public Schools math team since second grade; AHS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Club; AHS Orchestra; and AHS Esports. He has also been a math tutor since he was in seventh grade, and worked at Kaleidoscope for three summers.

Alex has received recognition in a variety of areas including: being an American Invitational Mathematics Examination 2021 and 2022 qualifier, MathCounts 2019 state qualifier, AP Scholar, National Honor Society Member, GGLeagues 2021 Esports League champion, and a recipient of the 2023 Andona scholarship.
