Introduction to the Sapphire Team at Merrimack College

Michael Cummings is a retired business leader whose 35-year career spanned environments from start-ups to mature B2B companies. He held roles from General Manager to COO and CEO. Most recently, Michael was COO of SparkCharge, a well-known cleantech start-up in Somerville which provides remote charging services for electric vehicles. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Operations for a clean water start-up in Watertown. Earlier in his career, Michael held leadership positions in paper, packaging, glass converting, printing, rubber processing, custom stationery, and industrial service firms. Michael prepared for his business career with a BA in Economics from Cornell University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Prior to attending HBS, he spent five years in the Army as an active-duty Field Artillery Officer. This included tours in South Korea and various U.S. states. During his last assignment, Michael helped to start up--and then commanded--the Army’s first Multiple Launch Rocket System unit. Michael and his family have lived in Andover for almost 20 years. He and Louise, his wife of 38 years, have three adult sons. |
