Heather Connors, PhD, Executive Director, The Center for Guardianship Excellence, Andover, MA. Her team researches guardianship and conservatorship topics and develops training to meet the needs of professional and family guardians. “The Center” is a research and training partner to Guardian Community Trust and Public Guardian Services. Together, these 3 non-profit organizations work to serve the needs of Individuals needing guardianship and the State of Massachusetts. Heather is a nationally certified guardian whose passion for helping senior citizens and unbefriended individuals began as an undergraduate. During the last 20 years, she has researched and developed strategies to ensure professional and family guardians protect the rights of individuals under guardianship while acting as medical decision-makers and advocates. She is a published author and has taught undergraduate and graduate level courses in aging, sociology and qualitative research methods. She serves on the Boards of the Center for Guardianship Certification, the National Guardianship Association, and the Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging. She is a member of the Massachusetts Guardianship Policy Institute and serves on the Advisory Committee for Public Guardian Services. Heather earned her Doctorate of Philosophy in Gerontology Policy Studies from the University of Massachusetts Boston where she completed a dissertation titled Autonomy vs. Protection: A Comparison of Physicians, Elder Law Attorneys, and Protective Service Case Managers. She earned a Master of Science in Gerontology from the University of Massachusetts and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the College of the Holy Cross.

NE Dir., All American Soap Box Derby

Marty Sullivan’s involvement in the Soap Box Derby dates back to 1960, when he first raced locally in New Hampshire. He won that race in 1964, and competed in the All-American Soap Box Derby representing New Hampshire. For more than 40 years, Marty Sullivan has been a passionate volunteer on the local, regional and national levels. He has promoted the growth of Soap Box Derby racing in the Northeast as a regional director since 1989, and also has served as president of his local organization and as an All-American inspector. Hundreds of boys and girls have been able to experience the thrills and benefits of Soap Box Derby racing because of Marty Sullivan’s decades of dedicated service to the youth program. |

In 1962, David began the first of 35 years in the software industry; initially in the UK, and later in the US. In 1997 he founded the Essex County Community Foundation (ECCF). In 2011, after retiring from ECCF, he researched the origins of philanthropy in New England. His research uncovered facts about the early attempted settlements here that appeared to be generally unknown. As he delved deeper and sought to bring the events to logical historical relevance, Isaac Stanfield emerged as the fictional observer and participant in the description of the years leading up to the landing of the Pilgrims.

Anodver Climate Summit 2022 - Abstract: Climate change impacts are felt by everyone who live, work and visit Andover. The pace of change is accelerating and increasing in intensity. Homes and businesses spend ever more to cool during the hotter summers while property owners increasingly deal with heavy precipitation and flooding damages. Greenhouse gas mitigation is needed to slow the release of these pollutants like carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide into the atmosphere; adaption is needed to preserve human lives and livelihoods. Come hear about where Andover stands in terms of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, how we are planning to address resilience, and how we propose to partner with you to help businesses thrive. BIO: Joyce Losick-Yang is the Sustainability Coordinator for the Town of Andover specializing in community resiliency and sustainability, as well as energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. She is developing the community’s first Climate Action Plan, managing the Town’s Green Communities and Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness grants, as well as boosting residential energy efficiency through the Mass Save Municipal Partnership. Prior to municipal government, Joyce was the Laboratory Policy Director and technology manager at the U.S. Department of Energy. She advised on national laboratory policies and oversaw a multi-million R&D portfolio in renewable energy, sustainable transportation and high performance computing. Joyce obtained her PhD from MIT in microbial genomics and metabolic engineering, and her bachelor degree in biochemistry from Rutgers University. She lives in Lexington with her wife and grade-school kids, and enjoys cooking and reading in her spare time. |

Learn more about the Addison’s collection of 23,000+ objects spanning the 18th century to the present and get a preview of this year’s upcoming exhibitions. She works closely with local elementary through college-level educators in designing and facilitating personalized museum visits that connect their classroom learning to the Addison’s exhibitions and collection. In this role, she also develops and facilitates professional development, designs interpretive materials for family audiences, and partners with local community organizations who visit the museum. Christine was awarded “2019 Museum Art Educator of the Year” by the Massachusetts Arts Educator Association for her dedication to New England Arts for Literacy, a project spearheaded by the Andover Public Schools. |

Pink Revolution Breast Cancer Alliance

Lauren Caulfield is the co-founder of Pink Revolution Breast Cancer Alliance of NH and a four year cancer survivor. She decided to bring the concept of making chemo care packages for cancer patients when she entered treatment and saw first-hand how many patients were attending therapy alone and needed support. Most recently the non-profit decided to expand their program by raising money for those in need of assistance with transportation costs to/from treatment by providing gas gift cards. Lauren has continued to be a resource for other cancer warriors since her diagnosis, by providing virtual assistance and encouragement to those currently going through treatment. Dr. Towle serves as the newly appointed Executive Director of Code & Circuit in Amesbury, MA. She also serves as the founder of Full Circle Classrooms (FCC). FCC provides consulting, facilitation of workshops, and national/international conference presentations from which educators and school leaders gain tools to create effective, learner-centered landscapes. This, in conjunction with Code & Circuit, has led to school visits with Spot the robotic dog, whereby Lori actively engages students in brain-based learning and Spot demonstrations. Lori completed her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership, serves as a member of Education Reimagined, and was a lab member of the MIT Gabrieli Lab. |

Andover Public Schools Superintendent

Dr. Magda Parvey began her tenure as superintendent of the Andover Public Schools in July 2021.
Most recently, Dr. Parvey was the Chief Academic Officer for Middletown Public Schools in Middletown, Connecticut. In this role, Dr. Parvey oversaw all instructional programs and was charged with developing robust short- and long-range goals for Middletown’s Strategic Operating Plan. This position was seen as an integral part of the district’s effort to provide all students with rigorous learning experiences and prepare them to thrive as critical thinkers and problem solvers who are college and/or career ready. Her depth of experience and knowledge in curriculum design, instructional leadership and supervision were crucial components to the district’s strategic plan. Prior to her appointment in Middletown, Dr. Parvey helmed the City School District of New Rochelle as Interim Superintendent, leading Westchester County’s second-largest school system through a time of great transition. A wise and effective decision maker with a strong belief in leading by forming relationships, she provided a sense of calm and stability to the District of 11,000 students. In New Rochelle, she promoted a rigorous curriculum, with a focus on offering access to opportunities for all students. With the faculty, she focused on professional learning, and promoted a culture of learning and collaboration. Her approach was to listen well and to engage her fellow administrators, teachers and others in pursuing the District’s mission. As a lifelong educator, Dr. Parvey has held multiple leadership positions during her over 25 years of experience in school systems in Connecticut, North Carolina and New York. She is a graduate of Canisius College from which she holds a Bachelor of Arts. Dr. Parvey holds a Master of Science degree in elementary education and a Master of Arts in educational leadership and technology, both from Adelphi University; and a Doctor of Education in administration and supervision from Fordham University. |

Temple Emanuel - Andover

Rabbi Max Chaiken has served as the Rabbi of Temple Emanuel in Andover since July 2021. He was ordained at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) in Los Angeles in 2018, and subsequently served Congregation Kol Ami in West Hollywood, California. A native of Teaneck, New Jersey, Rabbi Chaiken earned his Bachelors’ Degree in Economics and Public Policy from Brown University, and before beginning his rabbinical training, he taught Jewish music, Hebrew, and more in synagogue religious schools and Jewish day schools here in the Boston area. His rabbinic thesis, “Telling a New Story: A Model for Economic Ethics in Jewish Law” combined his undergraduate academic interests with his passion for Jewish thought and philosophy. Rabbi Chaiken is an author and a composer of music, and he has published several articles and songs. In 2020, he was the featured author for the Union for Reform Judaism’s Ten Minutes of Torah Commentary on the book of Deuteronomy. Rabbi Chaiken lives in Andover with his husband, Rabbi Danny Shapiro, and their dog, Oogie. |

Town of Andover Master Planning Update

Lisa is the Assistant Planning Director and has worked for the Town of Andover since 2001. She has served on the Board of the Merrimack Valley affiliate of Habitat for Humanity and Boston Children’s Hospital CSG. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the American Planning Association. Lisa also served in the Peace Corps in Ghana, West Africa as an education and environmental volunteer.
Lisa is a graduate of Clemson University College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities and the University of Pennsylvania’s Stuart Weitzman School of Design. She currently lives in Newburyport with her family.
