Paul's Journey on Honor Flight
Nov 13, 2026
Andover Rotary's own Paul Mercandetti will share his experience on Honor Flight. Honor Flight Network is a national nonprofit organization comprised of independent hubs working together to achieve the Honor Flight mission. In furtherance of this common goal, we have the enormous privilege of showing our nation’s veterans the appreciation and honor they deserve. Participation in an Honor Flight trip gives veterans the opportunity to share this momentous occasion with other comrades, remember the fallen, and share their stories and experiences with other veterans. Honored veterans always travel free of charge, thanks to generous donations to our organization. |

Essex Shipbuilding, Bridging the Past, Building the Future
Nov 20, 2026
Description: In this talk, KD will explore the unique intersection of traditional craftsmanship and environmental stewardship that defines the Essex Historical Society and Shipbuilding Museum. By examining the role of shipbuilding in the area since the 1600s, KD will highlight how the museum engages the community to connect heritage with present-day sustainability practices. Attendees will gain insight into how the skills, creativity, and environmental awareness of early American shipbuilders serve as a model for protecting our waterways and salt marshes today.
Bio: KD Montgomery is a nonprofit leader, professional mariner, and educator serving as Executive Director of the Essex Historical Society and Shipbuilding Museum. Her work bridges maritime heritage, environmental stewardship, and hands-on education.
Trained in traditional Essex ship design under National Heritage Fellow Harold Burnham and with a background in biotechnology and experiential learning, she connects science, craft, and place. Under her leadership, EHSSM has expanded environmental programming, vocational training, and preservation initiatives while strengthening community partnerships. |
